India : Going to be new Semiconductor Manufacturing Hub

Now India will be the new semiconductor manufacturing hub.

What are advantages and disadvantages of future market ?

Vedanta and Foxconn on 12th September signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat for a new plant worth Rs 1.54 lakh crore.

According to Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal “There is a huge rush among major countries for developing semiconductor capabilities and India will now be the 4th country to soon start manufacturing. Today, a laptop costs Rs 1 lakh, and once the glass as well as the semiconductor chip is available (in India), the same can be priced at Rs 40,000 or less."

So now, India is going to be the global hub for semiconductor manufacturing, design, and technology development. In other words, we can say that India is moving from chip taker to chip maker.

The Indian semiconductor market was valued at 27.2 billion US Dollor in 2021 and is expected to grow at a healthy CAGR of nearly 19% to reach 64 billion US Dollor in 2026.
